Harry Cherniak

Harry Cherniak has produced a number of films, including Tammy’s Always Dying (TIFF’19, Oscar-nominated Felicity Huffman), Astronaut (Oscar winner Richard Dreyfus), and Wexford Plaza (Torino & Slamdance, nominated for Toronto Film Critics $100,000 Best Canadian Film Prize).

Harry is also a Senior Instructor of Producing at Shanghai University’s Shanghai Vancouver Film School, a feature film programmer for the Slamdance Film Festival, co-founder of the African Film Festival, and founder of United in Film, an NGO focused on working with partner organizations in low resource countries to develop sustainable, indigenous film industries, and collaboratively provide infrastructure, training and ongoing support to local aspiring filmmakers. Since 2008, he has also worked during TIFF as a publicist on over 150 films distributed in America by Sony Pictures Classics, Amazon Studios, Fox Searchlight, A24, IFC and Neon.

Prior to his film career, Harry practiced M&A and infrastructure financing law for four years at Torys LLP, and worked as a research and media assistant for British MP Jon Trickett (Shadow Lord President of the Council and Shadow Minster for the Cabinet Office). Harry holds a J.D. (University of Toronto), an MSc with Distinction (London School of Economics), and a BA in Honours Business Administration with Distinction (Western University’s Ivey Business School).
